Terms and Right of Withdrawal
As of 19 August 2026 · Translation of the German terms, which are the binding version.
Botlight measures what an answer engine sees when it fetches a page. Most of it costs nothing. One product costs money — the Revenue Shield Report. These terms cover both, and above all they say what is promised and what is not.
§ 1 Provider and scope
(1) The provider and contracting party is Oliver Welsch, Hackenbroicher Str. 58, 50259 Pulheim, Germany, info@oliverwelsch.de ("the provider"). Full details are in the Impressum.
(2) These terms apply to all contracts covering the use of botlight.oliverwelsch.de and the services offered there — the free ones as well as the paid one.
(3) A consumer is anyone entering into the contract for purposes predominantly outside their trade, business or profession (§ 13 German Civil Code); a trader acts in the course of such activity (§ 14 German Civil Code).
(4) Deviating terms of the customer do not become part of the contract, even if they are not expressly rejected.
(5) The version available on this page at the time the contract is concluded applies. The contract text is not stored here — with a purchase it is sent by email together with this withdrawal policy and is therefore available in text form (§ 312f German Civil Code).
§ 2 The services at a glance
(1) Free of charge: scanning an address and the report generated from it (one run per browser per day, counted in a signed cookie; the example addresses on the home page are not counted), the multi-page scan of one domain for confirmed newsletter recipients, the newsletter including the daily re-check ("the Watcher"), and the badge for embedding on the page that was measured.
(2) Paid: the Revenue Shield Report, a one-time purchase at €29.00.
(3) All services are measurements and the suggestions derived from them. No particular outcome — a citation, a ranking, revenue — is owed (§ 12).
§ 3 Conclusion of contract for the free services
(1) The free services need no account and no registration. Starting a scan concludes a free usage contract that ends when the report has been delivered.
(2) The newsletter and the Watcher run on double opt-in: after entering an email address a confirmation mail arrives, and the contract is concluded by clicking the link in it. It can be terminated at any time without notice — the unsubscribe link in every mail is enough, as is a message to info@oliverwelsch.de.
(3) There is no entitlement to the free services. They may be changed, limited or discontinued at any time. Services already paid for are not affected.
§ 4 Conclusion of contract for the Revenue Shield Report
(1) The presentation of the report on this site is not a binding offer but an invitation to order.
(2) The order is placed on the order page at /bestellen.html (English
version: /en/order.html). The service,
the total price and the two required confirmations sit directly above the order button;
the email address and the website to be checked are entered there. All entries can be
corrected in the input fields until the click, and the process can be abandoned at any
time by leaving the page.
(3) The contract is concluded by clicking the button labelled „Zahlungspflichtig bestellen“ (German law prescribes this wording for an order button; on the English order page it is labelled "Order with obligation to pay"). Payment is then handled on a Stripe payment page; it is part of performing the contract, not of concluding it. If the customer abandons the payment, the provider may withdraw from the contract instead of demanding payment; an order without payment is not followed by delivery.
(4) The contract language is German. This English version is a translation for understanding; in case of discrepancies the German version applies.
§ 5 Price and payment
(1) The Revenue Shield Report costs €29.00 once. No further costs arise; the customer bears the cost of their own internet connection.
(2) The provider is a small business within the meaning of § 19 of the German VAT Act. VAT is therefore neither charged nor shown.
(3) Payment is processed by Stripe; the payment page shows which methods are available. The amount is due immediately on conclusion of the contract. Stripe provides the payment receipt and sends it by email.
§ 6 Delivery, content and use of the Revenue Shield Report
(1) Delivery follows immediately after payment, by email: a personal link that opens the report. The link is valid for seven days.
(2) The report is not a file but a page that is generated fresh from a live scan of the given website each time it is opened. Anyone who wants to keep it can print it or save it as a PDF from the browser.
(3) If the link expires or does not work, replying to the purchase mail is enough — a fresh link comes at no cost. This applies for twelve months from the purchase.
(4) The content of the report is generated from the scan of the given page: the posture towards crawlers, a licensing position (RSL), the TollBit route and a setup for attributing AI referrals. Statements about the market and about individual vendors' rules carry the date on which they were checked; that corner of the market moves fast.
(5) The customer receives a simple, non-exclusive, perpetual and non-transferable right to use the report for their own purposes — inside their own company and towards service providers implementing it for them. Resale, making it publicly available, passing the link to third parties outside that circle and any use under a third party's name (white label) are not permitted. The code fragments generated in the report — robots.txt lines, JSON-LD, licence files and the like — may be used without restriction and without attribution; no rights are reserved in them.
(6) The report is provided once. There is no obligation to update it beyond paragraph 3.
§ 7 Right of withdrawal
(1) Consumers have a right of withdrawal of fourteen days. The details are in the withdrawal policy at the end of this page.
(2) The right of withdrawal expires early if the consumer expressly consents during the order process that performance shall begin before the withdrawal period ends and confirms their awareness that this consent causes the loss of the right of withdrawal (§ 356(5) German Civil Code). If the order process does not ask for that consent, the right of withdrawal does not expire: the report is still delivered immediately, and withdrawal remains possible for fourteen days.
(3) Traders have no right of withdrawal.
§ 8 Newsletter and the Watcher
(1) Anyone who has confirmed the newsletter has the page they scanned re-checked once a day. A mail goes out only when an engine verdict flips or the score moves by five points or more. No particular number or frequency of mails is promised — there may be none for a long stretch.
(2) Every one of those mails carries a link that turns the re-check off and one that unsubscribes from the newsletter.
(3) The re-check is a repetition of the same measurement, not monitoring on the customer's behalf, and not an assurance that every change will be noticed. If a page is temporarily unreachable or refuses the fetch, an alert may fail to appear.
§ 9 The badge
(1) The badge may be embedded free of charge on the page whose score it shows. The image is measured anew when requested and delivered through a cache; it can therefore be up to a day old.
(2) The badge shows a measurement — not a recommendation, not a certification, not a seal of approval. It must not be used in a way that creates that impression, nor in a way that presents another domain's score as one's own.
(3) Beyond embedding the badge, no rights to the Botlight name, wordmark or design are granted.
(4) The provider may change or discontinue the badge endpoint at any time. There is no entitlement to permanent availability.
§ 10 Obligations when using the service
(1) A scan actually fetches someone else's page. Only publicly accessible pages and pages the user is entitled to check may therefore be scanned. The scan must not be used as a load test or a security test against third-party servers.
(2) The endpoints of this site must not be queried automatically in series. Deleting the cookie and getting a free run again breaches no obligation — building machine-driven queries does.
(3) In case of serious or repeated breaches the provider may block access. Paid services are unaffected unless the breach concerns them.
§ 11 Availability
(1) No particular availability is owed. The service runs on third-party infrastructure and measures third-party pages; maintenance windows, outages and blocks on the other side are possible.
(2) For the paid report: if an outage makes it temporarily unavailable, it is delivered again (§ 6(3)). The customer's statutory rights are unaffected.
§ 12 What is promised — and what is not
(1) Botlight measures what is visible when a page is fetched and evaluates it against published vendor documentation. Whether a page is actually cited is not decided by any tool. No outcome — citation, visibility, reach, revenue — is promised or owed.
(2) Vendors' rules, crawler tokens and programmes change without notice. A measurement describes the moment it ran.
(3) The notes on licensing, usage rights and compensation — including RSL, TollBit and comparable routes — are market information and expressly not legal or tax advice. Whether such a step holds up in an individual case belongs to a check before implementation.
(4) Implementation is up to the customer. The provider does not access the customer's systems and makes no changes to them.
§ 13 Support
(1) Questions about the product go to info@oliverwelsch.de and are usually answered within two working days.
(2) Support here means: a report is unclear, a run failed, a link does not work. It does not include implementing the suggestions, individual consulting on implementation, or legal and tax questions. That is not reticence but the honest scope of a one-person offer at this price.
§ 14 Defects and liability
(1) For the paid report the statutory provisions on digital products (§§ 327 ff. German Civil Code) apply towards consumers.
(2) The provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, where a guarantee has been given, and under the German Product Liability Act.
(3) For slightly negligent breach of an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance the customer may regularly rely, liability is limited in amount to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.
(4) Liability is otherwise excluded. These provisions also apply to the personal liability of the provider's agents and assistants.
(5) For the free services the provider is liable only for intent and gross negligence and in the cases of paragraph 2.
§ 15 Data protection
Which data is processed when is set out in the privacy policy (English translation; the German version is binding). It is a description of what the code does, and it changes with it.
§ 16 Dispute resolution
The provider is neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act). The ordinary courts remain open, and a message to info@oliverwelsch.de is usually the shorter route.
§ 17 Final provisions
(1) German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If the customer is a consumer habitually resident in another state, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of that state remain unaffected (Art. 6(2) Rome I Regulation).
(2) If the customer is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contractual relationship is the provider's registered seat.
(3) For a purchase, the version of these terms available at the time of purchase applies. For the ongoing free services — the newsletter and the Watcher — the provider may amend these terms; the amendment is announced by email at least four weeks in advance and is deemed accepted unless the customer objects before it takes effect. The announcement points this out. If the customer objects, the free usage relationship ends when the amendment takes effect.
Withdrawal policy
This policy applies to consumers purchasing the Revenue Shield Report.
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us — Oliver Welsch, Hackenbroicher Str. 58, 50259 Pulheim, Germany, info@oliverwelsch.de — of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the attached model withdrawal form, but it is not obligatory.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (with the exception of the supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
Early expiry of the right of withdrawal
Your right of withdrawal expires early if we have begun performing the contract after you expressly consented to us beginning performance before the end of the withdrawal period and you acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once performance begins.
